Adult Rowing Yearly Snapshot
We row on the water year round at Lake Higgins. Our experienced rowers, those who can row continuously in a team boat for at least a mile, register on a monthly basis to row once, twice, or three times a week.
New rowers can sign up any month. Throughout the year, we offer different programs ranging form weekly beginner sessions to weekend intensives. Each month will have a beginner rowing group that will practice weekly. As we get into spring and summer months, we will offer weekend learn-to-row’s that allow new rowers to get two or three sessions in over the course of a weekend.
Racing is not the focus of our adult program, but it is an opportunity that individuals can participate in if they’d like. Generally, the regattas our adults attend are in the fall and consist of a 5k race.
Adult Programs
-
Adult Beginner
This is a space for new rowers to develop skills. Practices will be slow paced with adequate time allowed to ask questions and practice the basics in a slow paced environment.
-
Recreational Rowing
We ask people to be comfortable rowing 1,500m continuously in a double or quad. You don’t need to be an olympian, but having proficiency with the stroke allows us to design practices where developing fitness can be a part of every session.
