Most racing opportunities are in the summer and fall. The summer races are 1,000m sprints and the fall regattas span 5,000m.
Below are venues we have raced at in the past. Each year looks a little different. We don’t run a formal competitive team, but put racing boats together as there is interest.
Virginia Boat Club Sprints
Midlothian, VA
Usually early June
This regatta takes place at Robious Landing Park. 2022 was the first year it took place since 2019.
JAMR- June Alice Memorial Regatta
Greensboro, NC
Late September
This is a regatta we host each year in Greensboro. We have run it as a sprint race and also as a 5k. This is a very low key event that bridges the gap between summer sprint racing and long distance racing in the fall.
Secret City
Oak Ridge, TN
Usually 2nd or 3rd weekend in October
This regatta takes place at Melton Hill Lake, which is the first venue that we will travel to where both our adults and youth will be competing at. There is a bike path allowing for a great opportunity to fully enjoy watching some of the races between your events.
Head of the Hooch
Chattanooga, TN
First weekend in November
This is the second largest regatta hosted in the US. Taking place in downtown Chattanooga, this regatta has quite the unique feel and is an exciting place to attend. The racing is quite competitive, making it a great place to push yourself and your boat.
Head of the South
Augusta, GA
Second weekend in November
This regatta rounds out the racing for the year.
